The reasons why businesses get flyers printed are myriad. Small flyers let people know that the business exists, what its products and services can do for them, and why they should choose that particular business above the competitors. In fact, studies show that two out of five people will try a new business after receiving promotional mailers like printed flyers, while about 48% of people will hold on to the mailers for future reference, in case they want to go do business with the new company they just learned of. Printed flyers are, for these reasons, one of the best business printing tactics around.

However, success is not guaranteed. Low quality, unimpressive printed flyers will not only fail, they may actually do some damage to the business’s reputation. If a customer bases their first impression off of hard-to-read, ugly looking printed flyers, then they’re not going to think very highly of the business that made and sent them.

If printed flyers are going to convince and convert potential customers, they need to have strong content. Here are a few tips that can help you craft printed flyers that will win your business new customers.

The Color.

Color, believe it or not, is very important. Customers will make a subconscious decision about a piece of mail in as little as 90 seconds after initially seeing it, so you really want your printed flyers to be impressive. Adding color has shown to improve response rates by as much as 45%.

The Reason.

There needs to be a very specific reason for sending out printed flyers, even if it is to simply announce your new business’s existence. After all, there is a value exchange going on. Your business needs to give the customer something for their precious time, and that something is valuable information. According to one study, 62% of people like to receive mail about special offers, and another 56% of people welcome mail that gives them useful info. So when you make printed flyers, be clear and be direct about why you’re contacting the individual.

The Feel.

Companies who make business prints have tons of paper and finishing options, so why not use them? If a piece of mail looks good, feels good, and screams to be opened, then chances are the person is going to open it. Incorporate foil blocking, tabbing, or other specialty printing features to increase your direct mailer’s response rate.

If your flyers are colorful, have a reason for being in the customer’s mailbox, and feel good, then chances are they’re not only going to be opened, but also convince and convert a new customer for your business. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments.
